When travelling of the Amazon’s wetlands (Pampas) region in eastern Bolivia we came across this caiman. He had been nicknamed Federico by the lodge staff where we were staying. Although I am certain they were not meant to, we got the impression that the staff probably fed him leftovers as he always seemed to be hanging around the kitchen area.
I took this photograph in the morning, when we found him hiding under a raised wooden path. Only a few inches from where we had been walking moments earlier.
